Big Ice is a full-day tour that begins with picking up passengers in El Calafate. On our comfortable buses, on the way to Los Glaciares National Park, the tour guides will provide information about the activity, the location, and the glacier.<\/p>\n
Once you arrive at the \u201cBajo de las Sombras\u201d pass (Route 11, 70 km from El Calafate)<\/strong>\u00a0They will set out to cross Lake Rico,<\/strong>\u00a0reaching the opposite shore after about 20 minutes of sailing past the imposing south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier.<\/p>\n Upon arrival at the shelter, the group will be greeted by experienced mountain guides, who will divide them into smaller groups and accompany them throughout the entire trek. The trek\u00a0It begins with a hike along the moraine that lasts about 2 hours,\u00a0<\/strong>where you can enjoy various panoramic views of the glacier and the forest.<\/p>\n The Big Ice is a highly personalized tour:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Groups on the ice will consist of up to 10 people, accompanied by two mountain guides who will fit them with crampons, helmets, and harnesses and explain the basic safety rules.<\/p>\n The physical demands are high both in the forest and on the ice, where the surface is uneven but firm and safe.<\/strong><\/p>\n Once on the glacier and with your crampons on, the world takes on a whole new perspective: blue lagoons, deep crevasses, enormous sinkholes, magical caves, and the unique sensation of being at the heart of the glacier.<\/p>\n For about three hours, they will explore every corner of the world's most unique glacier.<\/strong>\u00a0During the tour, mountain guides will help you learn more about the ice and its surroundings, and you\u2019ll be able to appreciate the sheer magnitude of the glacier and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains, such as Dos Picos, Pietrobelli, and Cervantes. In addition, you\u2019ll have half an hour to have lunch and marvel at the unparalleled beauty of the surroundings.<\/p>\n Once the glacier hike is over, you\u2019ll head back along the same path until you reach the refuge, where you\u2019ll have a few minutes to take in the unparalleled beauty of this place. As you board the boat for the return trip, you\u2019ll sail very close to the south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier before returning to \u201ccivilization,\u201d after having enjoyed\u00a0One of the most spectacular ice treks in the world!<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>The tour, including transportation, lasts about twelve hours in total\u00a0<\/strong>and includes a guided tour lasting approximately one hour of the Perito Moreno Glacier walkways, located 7 km from the port. There, you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the glacier and explore some of the self-guided trails. If you choose not to use our transportation and go on your own, the\u00a0Big Ice<\/strong>\u00a0It lasts approximately seven and a half hours, starting from the port and returning to the same starting point.<\/p>\n The Big Ice tour takes place in a natural setting, so weather conditions and the characteristics of the glacier and its surroundings change daily.
