A moderate-difficulty hike.
Suitable for people with no trekking experience but who are in good physical condition. It is an 8-kilometer stretch of rugged terrain with a challenging incline and an elevation gain of 400 meters.
You can reach the base of the Martial Glacier via the road through the hotel district in the upper part of the city, just a few minutes from downtown.
The hike begins with an ascent that follows the old ski trail on the Martial Glacier. You’ll make your way through the highest part of the Tierra del Fuego forest.
The trail continues along the meltwater stream flowing from the glacier. You leave the vegetation behind and continue along trails of loose rock and ice.
Weather permitting, lunch is served at the base of the glacier or at the lookout point, which offers a breathtaking view of the city and the Beagle Channel.
The return trip follows the same trail back to the parking lot, where your transportation will be waiting for you.
